The use of MS directed auto-purification, using semi preparativescale columns (typically 20mm i.d), is now common place withinthe pharmaceutical industry, especially to support lead candidatepurification. This paper shows how tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry hasbeen employed with both analytical and semi-preparative scalechromatography for the isolation of the metabolites of commonpharmaceuticals, from urine. The application of MRM, neutral lossand precursor ion scanning is demonstrated. We also demonstratehow the use of MS/MS directed purification facilitates thecombination of samples from several chromatographic runs. This poster was shown at: Montreux LC/MS Symposium on LC/MS, SFC/MS, CE/MS and MS/MS, Montreux, Switzerland, November 10-12, 2004. It was also shown at the CHI Drug Metabolism Conferences, December 13-15, 2004.
