Non end-capped Resolve packings are significantly different from Waters other packing materials in that they typically provide higher retention of polar compounds and complement those of Nova-Pak and µBondapak chemistries. Resolve C18 and silica columns are available in 5µm and 10µm spherical packings for applications requiring higher resolution than what is achievable using irregularly shaped chromatographic particles. The non end-capped silica surface offers a balance of retention for separation of polar compounds.
The combination of hydrophobic and silanophilic mechanisms make Resolve C18 packings highly retentive for polar and non-polar compounds. Resolve C18 packages are commonly used for agricultural, industrial, chemical and pharmaceutical applications where very retentive surfaces are needed to adsorb polar compounds.
The Resolve C8 bonded phase is prepared by reacting 10µm Resolve silica with an octylsilane. This bonded phase is typically less retentive than Resolve C18. Resolve C8 is available in Rapid-Pak cartridge columns only.
This 10µm spherical packing has a low carbon load (3%) for low retention, resulting in reduced consumption of organic solvents and rapid separations. Resolve CN is available in Rapid-Pak cartridge columns only.
