Deactivated Glass (DV) vials are used for highly polar analytes that may otherwise associate with the polar glass surface. These glass vials are treated with gas-phase, reactive organosilane, producing a hydrophobic glass surface.
It is important to use deactivated glass with samples that might have highly polar analytes to avoid loss of sample, loss of time, or the need to run the analysis again. These deactivated clear glass vials can be stored dry indefinitely as the surface modification is permanent for this particular vial. The deactivated properties of the vial enable you to easily work with biological or pharmaceutical compounds, natural products, pesticides, and herbicides as the deactivation process eliminates sample interaction, making it ideally suited for such applications.
