Why Would A Gradient System Be Required?
Gradient systems allow you to manage the flow rate and solvent/buffer changes to improve chromatographic separations. They can also be utilized to fine-tune separations and accelerate column re-equilibration. A four-solvent gradient system is excellent for method development when equipped with methanol, acetonitrile, ammonium acetate buffer, and formic acid solution. Quality control laboratories typically use isocratic systems with a constant-composition premixed mobile phase for fast separations.
