Sep-Pak Alumina N Classic Cartridge, 1850 mg Sorbent per Cartridge, 50-300 µm, 50/pk
Sep-Pak Alumina N Vac cartridges contain a highly active grade of alumina with a neutral surface chemistry. The aluminum oxide surface provides an extremely polar surface for analyte retention and has properties of a Lewis acid. This normal phase sorbent is similar in use to silica; however, it is slightly more stable than non-functionalized silica under high pH conditions. This neutral alumina is suitable for applications such as synthetic crude oil fractionation. These syringe-barrel-type cartridges are designed for use with vacuum manifolds and automated SPE instruments.
Depending on the sorbent's surface treatment, alumina is available in three forms: Alumina A, Alumina B, and Alumina N. Alumina exhibits specific interactions with the pi-electrons of aromatic hydrocarbons. This makes it extremely useful for applications like crude oil fractionation. Depending on your requirements, Acidic and basic grades can be used as low-capacity ion exchangers in aqueous media, unaffected by high-energy radioactivity.
The Sep-Pak Alumina N Classic Cartridge is a Classic-style cartridge designed for use with positive displacement by a Luer-tip syringe and can also attach easily to vacuum-assisted flow devices using a male/male adaptor.
Certified Sep-Pak Alumina N cartridges are quality-controlled to ensure reproducible separations. The cartridges provide superior performance for ultra-low level analyte detection by reducing the potential for background interferences found in many SPE devices.
There are many applications of the Sep-Pak Alumina phase; specifically, the Sep-Pak Alumina N Classic Cartridge can be used with Sep-Pak columns with 'Neutral' sorbent and normal phase. Some of the applications include running analysis on food and feed additives; synthetic organic compounds; pesticide, herbicide, and priority pollutant isolation; and alternatives to official AOAC and EPA methods. They are capable of allowing particle size of 50-300µm, pore size of 120 Å, carrying sorbent weight of 1850mg per cartridge, and can support a volume of up to 1.8mL.

What Is The Importance Of Resolution In Chromatography?
Resolution measurements play a crucial role in optimizing separations as they are dependent on two fundamental properties of the chromatographic process: peak width and retention time. As resolution is determined by these inherent characteristics, it serves as a valuable metric for evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of chromatographic separations. By understanding and manipulating peak width and retention time, scientists can fine-tune the resolution of their analyses, leading to improved separation outcomes.
