Symmetry C18 Column, 300Å, 5 µm, 3.9 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk

Made with the tightest specifications in the market, the Symmetry C18 Columns provide the most consistent results with outstanding year-over-year reproducibility, making them the chromatographer’s top choice for long lifetimes in established analytical methods. These columns have set the standard for HPLC drug assays, allowing for high confidence in the compliance of HPLC methods. This is achieved without compromising peak shape, selectivity, reproducibility between columns and batches, and other critical performance characteristics.

Symmetry C18 Columns are manufactured using high purity silica and a tightly controlled manufacturing process, ensuring that each column exceeds the standard for HPLC column performance. No other silica-based LC column brand has the same column-to-column or batch-to-batch reproducibility as the Symmetry family of columns and associated lab equipment. This is tested rigorously during manufacturing and can be further confirmed through the use of Neutrals QC Reference Material in your laboratory.

Symmetry C18 Columns are designed to last for over 10,000 injections with minimal loss of efficiency, minimal increase in backpressure, and minimal change in retention time. These longer lifetimes save money by reducing the number of replacements needed. To ensure guaranteed consistent performance, these columns optimize the two key factors which control column lifetime: hydrolytic stability of the packing material and mechanical stability of the packed bed.

Additionally, the Symmetry C18 Column is able to deliver superior peak shape across the pH range of 2 to 8 due to the high bonding density and minimal residual silanol activity of the packing materials. This allows chromatographers to work at neutral or low pH, optimizing their methods without compromising peak shape.

How Should I Use Guard Columns With Symmetry C18 Columns?

To ensure the high performance of your Symmetry column, a Waters guard column of matching chemistry and particle size should be used between the injector and main column. Using a high-performing matching guard column will protect the main column without compromising or changing the analytical resolution. Guard columns should be replaced at regular intervals as determined by sample contamination. A sudden appearance of split peaks can indicate a need to replace the column, as well as backpressure that steadily increases above a set pressure limit.
