Symmetry C8 Column, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 4.6 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk
When it comes to HPLC separations, the reproducibility of columns is one of the most crucial choices a chromatographer can make. When creating Symmetry C8 Columns, reproducibility is the number one priority at Waters, starting with a commitment to maintaining the tightest specifications in the HPLC column industry. This starts with high purity raw materials, tightly controlled manufacturing processes, and column packing procedures that provide these superior, most reproducible HPLC results available.
Symmetry C8 Columns are able to supply these superior results by using the narrowest surface coverage specifications in the industry. Surface coverage, also known as ligand density, is one of the most parameters affecting reproducibility. With this in mind, the surface coverage requirements in Symmetry C8 Columns are the tightest on the market. This means you will experience minimal shifts in resolution and more reproducible results between columns and batches as a result of this innovative lab equipment.
In addition to these benefits, Symmetry C8 Columns deliver consistent performance by optimizing the two key factors that control column lifetime- hydrolytic stability of the packing material and mechanical stability of the packed bed. When columns last longer, laboratories can save money over time. Symmetry columns can last over 10,000 injections with minimal loss in efficiency, minimal increase in backpressure, and minimal change in retention time. Lifetime can be extended even further with the use of a Symmetry C8 VanGuard Cartridge, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 3.9 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk to reduce contamination.
This column’s chemistry features a monofunctionally bonded C8 ligand on a high purity base-deactivated silica, offering less retention for those looking for speed in their separations.
How Should I Prepare Samples For Use With Symmetry C8 Columns?
Sample impurities can often contribute to contamination in columns. In order to avoid this, using a column of the same chemistry before sample analysis can be beneficial. Oasis SPE extraction cartridges or Sep-Pak cartridges will both be good options. It is best to prepare the sample in the operating mobile phase or a mobile phase that is weaker than the mobile phase in order to achieve the best peak shape and sensitivity. If the sample is not dissolved in the mobile phase, ensure that the sample, solvent, and mobile phase are miscible in order to avoid sample and/or buffer precipitation.
