Styragel GPC Column, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 300 mm, 5K - 600K, 1/pk
Designed specifically for use with low molecular weight samples, the Styragel GPC Column is ideal for the analysis of oligomers, epoxies, and polymer additives that require high resolution. These columns deliver unmatched resolution and efficiency in the area of low to mid molecular weight ranges due to the rigid 5μm particles they are based on, along with the high plate counts needed for this type of analysis.
With over 40 years of experience creating refined lab equipment and supporting technology, Waters has optimized the practice of Gel Permeation Chromatography and expanded the technique’s reach beyond the original use of polymer analysis. Because of this, new applications have been developed that allow for the separation of small and large molecules from interfering matrices. These applications span food science, pharmaceutical preparation, and natural product industries. Waters is a leader in the GPC market, making us qualified to offer not only high-quality, expert application support but also a wide range of products and materials, including the Polystyrene ReadyCal Standards 4 mL Kit.
Styragel GPC Columns are shipped in three solvents: toluene, tetrahydrofuran (THF), and dimethylformamide (DMF). Column dimensions include an inner diameter of 4.6 mm and a length of 300 mm. Each order includes one column with a molecular weight range of 50,000 to 4,000,000.
All column manufacturing occurs in facilities that follow strict FDA, ISO, and cGMP guidelines in order to ensure reproducibility and high quality technology. Columns are packed with high-performance, fully porous, highly cross-linked styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer particles.
What Chromatography Guidelines Are Used for Styragel Columns?
Column lifetime in gel permeation chromatography columns is finite and directly related to their care and use and is particularly impacted by contamination due to samples and eluents, frequent changeover, improper handling and storage, and temperature cycling. For the best resolution and maximum column lifetime, do not exceed a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min or a back pressure of 3.5 MPa (500 psi, 35 atm) per column. Columns should also be protected from vibration and mechanical shock, with temperature cycling minimized. Always use high-quality HPLC grade solvents and dedicate each column to a specific application to eliminate deterioration due to frequent solvent changes.
