Styragel GPC Column, 5 µm, 7.8 mm X 300 mm, 100 - 5K, 1/pk
As a market leader in Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), Waters strives to provide high-quality GPC lab equipment and expert applications through over 40 years of continued research and refinement. Innovations in instrumentation, packing materials, and technology allow size-exclusions techniques to expand beyond the original polymer analysis to now include applications for separating small and large molecules from interfering matrices. This has proven critical in food, pharmaceutical, and natural product preparations. Styragel GPC Columns are chosen by chromatographers looking to characterize these samples in the low to mid molecular range when high resolution is called for.
Styragel GPC columns are designed specifically for use with low molecular weight samples, particularly oligomers, epoxies, and polymer additives. Packed with rigid 5 µm particles, these columns deliver unrivaled resolution and efficiency in the low- to mid-molecular weight region, while providing the high plate counts necessary to complete this type of analysis. The polymers used in reference materials have each been specifically manufactured to provide known molecular weight data for a wide range of analyses.
This model of the Styragel GPC column has a molecular weight range of 100 to 5,000 with a 5 µm particle size and a pH range of 2 to 12. The inner diameter is 7.8 mm with a length of 300 mm and one column is included in each package. Columns will be shipped in three solvents: toluene, tetrahydrofuran (THF), and dimethylformamide (DMF). Waters recommends purchasing a Styragel GPC Guard Column, 20 µm, 4.6 mm X 30 mm, 100 - 10K, 1/pk to expand column lifetime.
When Should I Perform Efficiency Tests On Styragel GPC Columns?
It is generally recommended to perform an efficiency test upon receiving your column. You can carry out an instrument band-spreading test and column-efficiency test. Keep in mind there may be slight variations based on the equipment used, nature of the sample, and instrument settings. Each time you add a column or change your system, efficiency tests should be performed. As you use the system, a regular schedule of efficiency tests should also be introduced to your process. If you notice problems during normal operation, repeat the conditions of your initial tests and compare results. You can monitor instrument spreading by performing a test without the column in line.
