Pico-Tag Column, 60Å, 4 µm, 3.9 mm X 300 mm, 1/pk

Add the Pico-Tag Column to your lab equipment collection to be able to conduct the necessary reversed-phase separation of phenylthiocarbamyl amino acids. Waters uses an exclusive bonding and packing process that has been developed to deliver the Pico-Tag Column. This bonding process results in the durable and high-efficiency stationary phase, which enables the separation of the amino acids, making Pico-Tag the most widely used technique for HPLC amino acid analysis. For the development of methods using the Pico-Tag column, you can follow the generally accepted procedures of quality control. Find the complete range of products under the Pico-Tag brand using our website and shop for lab equipment directly from us.

The Pico-Tag Column is manufactured in an ISO-certified plant using ultra-pure reagents. Each batch of particles is tested and the results are held to narrow specification ranges to assure excellent, reproducible performance. In addition to this, every column goes through rigorous individual testing. To ensure that you have the guarantee of receiving quality equipment from Waters, a Performance Chromatogram and Certificate of Batch Analysis are always provided.

As liquid chromatography columns have finite lifetimes, it is of utmost importance that they are handled with care. The lifetime of the Pico-Tag Column can be impacted by the number of injections, sample and solvent cleanliness, frequency of solvent changeover, as well as the handling and storage procedures. It is recommended that immediate steps be taken to determine the reason in case a change is observed in the retention of a particular compound resolution between two compounds' peak shape. The results of any separations must not be relied upon until the cause has been determined.

The strict quality control processes used in the manufacturing of the Pico-Tag Column deliver a column which, when it is used in conjunction with Pico-Tag reagents, eluents, and the HPLC system, is assured to provide the speed, resolution, and sensitivity which are crucial for the analysis of amino acids.

Which Amino Acids Can Be Detected By UV?

All aromatic amino acids absorb ultraviolet light to different degrees. Tyrosine and tryptophan absorb more than do phenylalanine. Tryptophan is responsible for most of the absorbance of ultraviolet light (ca. 280 nm) by proteins. Tyrosine is the only one of the aromatic amino acids with an ionizable side chain.
