Spherisorb C8 Column, 80Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 250 mm, 1/pk
As one of the most widely referenced HPLC columns in scientific literature, Waters’ Spherisorb Columns appear in thousands of analytical abstracts due to their wide range of validated methods and applications that assist in the method development process. The high-quality bonded phases give many separation selectivities while providing industry-standard Parker-style column end fittings. These analytical columns are durable and highly efficient, providing exceptional flexibility in optimizing methods and reducing solvent consumption. As a highly regarded piece of lab equipment, Spherisorb columns are the top choice of many chromatographers.
Spherisorb C8 Columns are general-purpose, silica-based, reversed-phase columns that contain an Octyl ligand. As USP 7 columns, they are preferred by chromatographers that require a less retentive sorbent when compared with other Spherisorb ODS columns. The addition of a Spherisorb C8 Guard Cartridge, 80Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 10 mm, 3/pk can help extend column lifetimes for sustained usage.
All Spherisorb columns are manufactured in a dedicated chromatography chemistry manufacturing plant under cGMP guidelines. The plant is ISO 9002 certified and registered with the FDA to manufacture Class 1 medical devices. This allows Waters to guarantee Spherisorb C8 columns consistently meet the quality standards required in regulated laboratories. Each column is individually tested with a copy of the test chromatogram supplied with each column.
This column arrives one to a package, with an inner diameter of 4.6 mm and a length of 250 mm. Operating limits include 6,000 psi maximum pressure, a pH range of 2-8, and a temperature range of 20 – 45 C. The particle size included is 5 µm.
What Solvents Should I Use With A Spherisorb C8 Column?
In order to ensure maximum column performance, high-quality chromatography grade solvents are recommended. All aqueous buffers should be filtered prior to use. Waters recommends Pall Gellman Laboratory Acrodisc filters. Solvents that contain suspended particulate materials are known to clog the outside surface of the inlet distribution of the frit of the column, leading to higher operating pressure and poor performance. All solvents should be degassed prior to use to prevent bubble formation in the pump and the detector. It is also recommended to use an online degassing unit, especially when running low-pressure gradients.
