Spherisorb C6 Column, 80Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk
With a wide range of validated methods and applications to assist in the method development process, Spherisorb columns have appeared in thousands of scientific articles, making them the most widely referenced HPLC columns in the market. These columns include industry-standard Parker-style column end fittings and provide high-quality bonded phases that give many separation selectivity options. Durable and highly efficient Spherisorb C6 columns also offer exceptional flexibility in optimizing methods and reducing solvent consumption. Many chromatographers choose Spherisorb due to the high regard for the lab equipment across the industry.
The Spherisorb C6 Column is a general-purpose, silica-based, reversed-phase column that contains a linear hexyl ligand. Compared to other Spherisorb ODS columns, the Spherisorb S6 offers a less retentive sorbent, making it the natural choice for ion-pair work or rapid reversed-phase separation where speed of analysis and consistent retention times are critical. With the addition of a Spherisorb C8 Guard Cartridge, 80Å, 5 µm, 4.6 mm X 10 mm, 3/pk, lifetimes can be extended, leading to sustained usage of this tool.
The column is available with one per order and has an inner diameter of 4.6 mm with a length of 150 mm. Operating limits include a maximum pressure of 6000 psi, or 415 bar, and a pH range of 2-8.
All Spherisorb columns are manufactured in a dedicated manufacturing plant under cGMP guidelines. The plant is ISO 9002 certified and registered with the FDA for the production of class 1 medical devices. These guidelines allow Waters to guarantee each column consistently meets the quality standards required by laboratories.
How Do I Equilibrate My Spherisorb C6 Column?
Spherisorb columns are shipped in the test mobile phase. Before changing to a different mobile phase system, it is important to ensure compatibility. To avoid precipitating out mobile-phase buffers on your column or in your system, you will need to flush the column with five column volumes of a water/organic solvent mixture, using the same or lower solvent content as the desired buffered mobile phase. If mobile phase additives are present in low concentrations (e.g., ion-pairing reagents), then 100 to 200 column volumes may be required for complete equilibration.
