How Does One Begin Filtration?

Before adding the sample, fill the syringe with about 1 mL of air. This will allow air to escape from the syringe with the sample. The amount of fluid retained within the filter device is reduced by this "air purge." Next, fill the syringe with the filtered solution. Twist the filled syringe to the filter device while holding the filter device in one hand (without using too much force). Apply gentle pressure to begin filtration.
