CORTECS Solid Core C18+ Column, 90Å, 1.6 µm, 2.1 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk

Designed to maximize performance of HPLC or UHPLC systems through maximizing efficiency, Waters’ CORTECS Solid-Core Particle Columns offer enhanced resolution and peak capacity when operating at HPLC and UHPLC optimized pressures. For chromatographers developing a quality control method or transferring an LC separation, CORTECS Solid Core C18+ Columns exceed industry expectations for LC columns.

The efficiency gains in solid-core particle columns had previously been credited to shorter diffusion paths when compared with fully porous particles. Solid-core particles have been shown to improve performance by lowering the three terms of the van Deemter equation, by packing more uniformly, reducing axial diffusion through lower particle porosity, and improving heat transfer by diminishing radial temperature gradients. Part of this innovative lab equipment family, CORTECS Solid Core C18+ Columns lead to improved excellent peak shape for basic analytes at a low pH.

The general-purpose, high-efficiency, reversed-phase CORTECS C18+ Column features a positively charged surface modification for enhanced selectivity and exceptional peak shape for basic compounds when working with acidic, low-ionic strength mobile phases like formic acid.

The cutting-edge manufacturing facilities at Waters are dedicated to producing CORTECS Solid Core C18+ Columns that maximize laboratory performance. The controlled processes used at these facilities for the production of silica and hybrid particles allow for continually monitoring and controlling throughout the lifetime of the process. This attention to detail ensures you receive the best, most reliable column possible for consistent performance year over year. CORTECS Solid Core C18+ Columns are created using state-of-the-art column packing techniques along with bonding and end-capping processes. Further testing can be performed in your laboratory using Reversed-Phase QC Reference Material.

How Should I Store My CORTECS C18+ Columns After Reversed-Phase Use?

For periods longer than four days, columns should be stored in 100% acetonitrile. When separations used elevated temperatures, columns should be stored immediately after use in 100% acetonitrile. Columns should never be stored in buffered eluents. If the mobile phase used contained a buffer salt, flush the column with 10 column volumes of HPLC grade water, followed by 10 column volumes of acetonitrile. If this intermediae step is not performed, it could lead to precipitation of the buffer salt. Completely seal the column to avoid solvent evaporation and drying out of the chromatographic bed.
