XTerra Shield RP18 OBD Prep Column, 125Å, 5 µm, 19 mm X 150 mm, 1/pk

XTerra Preparative RP18 columns are hybrid-based, reversed-phase C18 columns that incorporate Waters patented embedded polar group technology to improve peak shape performance for highly basic compounds. These first-generation columns provide superior pH stability compared to a silica-based column.

In comparison to conventional silica-based columns, the XTerra Shield RP18 OBD Prep Column is a first-generation column that delivers greater pH stability. With the Xterra Shield RP18 OBD Prep Column, you can overcome the considerable limits of silica-based reversed-phase packing materials, particularly their hydrolytic instability at high pH. The Waters XTerra range of reversed-phase HPLC columns is the first commercially available silica-based column alternative.

The XTerra HPLC Columns are made of a tough polymer that is both mechanically strong and efficient. They have a good peak shape for bases and are simple to scale up from analytical to preparative chromatography. High mechanical strength, great chemical stability for both low and high-pH purifications, and excellent peak shape for bases are all features of the XTerra OBD Preparative Columns.

The column is based on Waters' patented organic/inorganic Hybrid Particle Technology (HPT), which allows it to provide various benefits above standard silica columns. Mechanical strength, highly spherical shape, purity, pore dimensions, surface area, the ability to tailor particle size, pore dimensions, surface area, and surface chemistry are some of the key advantages of the Waters XTerra Shield RP18 OBD Prep Column when compared to conventional silica columns on the market.

What Is The Reason For The LC System To Keep Shutting Down Repeatedly?

Overpressure protection is built into HPLC pumps and systems to ensure system safety and protect the columns and equipment. The pump may shut off to protect the LC system if the system is set too low or if there is too much backpressure. Other reasons could include the need to clean up the lines or the removal of residual or crystallized material that is clogging or choking the system.
