Atlantis Silica HILIC Column, 100Å, 3 µm, 4.6 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk
In order to provide retention of analytes that are simply too polar to be retained by reverse-phase chromatography, Waters has introduced the Atlantis Silica HILIC Columns, which are used in combination with high organic mobile phases (>80% acetonitrile). HILIC separation mechanisms provide orthogonal analyte selectivity compared to traditional chromatographic reversed-phase approaches.
Due to their hydrophilic nature combined with their net positive charge at acidic pH, retention and separation of very basic polar analytes are extremely difficult using reversed-phase chromatography. The HILIC technology is able to resolve these challenging separation problems. This is what makes the Atlantis Silica HILIC Column the ideal lab equipment for use in metabolism, drug discovery, and combinatorial chemistries.
Using Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography present in the Atlantis Silica HILIC Column, you can easily retain compounds including peptides, metabolites, and actives. Additionally, other than retaining very polar compounds, the HILIC technology offers improved LC/ESI-MS response and direct compatibility with SPE solvents while offering complementary selectivity when it is compared to reversed-phase HPLC. The lab equipment makes it possible for you to retain highly polar basic analytes with volatile mobile phases that are suitable for compound ionization by ESI-MS. This results in an analysis that exhibits higher sensitivity and lower limits of detection. This is especially useful in drug metabolism studies as metabolites are often more polar than their parent compounds and are present in a much lower concentration.
The Atlantis Silica HILIC Column gives you a long column lifetime, meaning you do not need to replace the lab equipment in a long time. You also get universal compatibility with all LC detectors when using the Atlantis Silica HILIC Column. This is in addition to outstanding column-to-column reproducibility.
Severe peak tailing for polar bases is observed quite often with the traditional reversed-phase HPLC columns. By using the Atlantis Silica HILIC Column, you get superior peak shapes for polar bases while leveraging faster and easier method development.
Waters recommends that you also invest in the Atlantis Silica HILIC VanGuard Cartridge, 100Å, 3 µm, 3.9 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk in order to protect your analytical column from harm and to enhance its performance.
What Is The pH Range Of The Atlantis Silica HILIC Column?
The Atlantis Silica HILIC Column is specifically designed to operate within a pH range of 1 to 5, allowing for efficient and reliable separations under acidic to mildly acidic conditions. This pH range provides optimal performance for HILIC (Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography) applications, enabling the separation of polar compounds with excellent retention and resolution.
