HSPgel Column, 3 µm, 6 mm X 150 mm, 500 - 700K, 1/pk
GPC (Gel permeation chromatography) is used by scientists the world over to conduct molecular weight distribution of polymeric samples. Conventionally, GPC is conducted using column sets of 3 or 4 columns in series with 7.8 x 300 mm dimensions. This results in adequate pore volume and molecular weight resolution for accurate and precise molecular weight measurements. The typical run times for these 3-4 column banks are 30-50 minutes, at 1.0 mL/minute eluent flow rates. However, the use of these large lab equipment banks minimizes the effects of system band spreading and the lower precision of older technology solvent delivery systems.
You can now opt for the new Waters HSPgel columns, which are specifically designed for high-speed GPC analysis. The lab equipment offers fast, accurate, and precise molecular weight polymer determinations, as well as increased sample throughput and greatly reduced solvent consumption and disposal costs. With the advent of today's higher performance solvent management systems, many polymers can now be analyzed accurately and reproducibly utilizing lower volume columns. This results in total analysis times of 7 minutes or less, thereby increasing sample throughput up to 6 times while decreasing solvent usage from 35-50 mL to 5 mL or less per run.
A Certificate of Analysis and Performance Test Chromatogram is available in the column box of the Waters HSPgel Column. We do not recommend the use of a guard column with the lab equipment as it can cause significant volume and band spreading to increase in the system. In place of the guard column, a ~0.5 µm in-line filter (pre-column) can be used to stop any particulate material that can potentially clog the column frit.
We recommend that you also invest in the LCMS Certified Clear Glass 12 x 32 mm Screw Neck Vial, with Cap and Preslit PTFE/Silicone Septum, 2 mL Volume, 100/pk. Made using chemically inert glass, the lab equipment can be used to store your samples and analytes without the worry about any interference with the analysis results or of evaporation or contamination.
