Product Description

These reversed-phase columns contain Waters patented embedded polar group technology that “shields” the silica’ residual silanol surface from highly basic analytes. The reduced silanol activity for the SymmetryShield RP18 column significantly improves peak shape and resolution.

Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 3.9 mm X 20 mm, 2/pk

You may extend the life of your columns by using the Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge. The Sentry Cartridge, which sits between the injector and the analytical column, is a piece of laboratory safety equipment. Chemical pollutants and suspended particles are kept out of the analytical column with the installation of the Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge. In these reversed-phase columns, Waters' unique embedded polar group technology "shields" the remaining silanol surface from very basic analytes. The lowered silanol activity of the Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge greatly improves peak shape and resolution.

In the Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge, Waters uses the same high-performance packing materials as in all of their analytical columns. It was designed for situations that necessitate increased capacity for biological fluid cleanup and/or temperature control. The Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge has a 15 percent carbon load, a particle size of 5 m, and a pore size of 100.

The Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge, like other Waters products, is created with ultra-pure reagents in a cGMP, ISO 9001-certified facility. Each batch of Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge packing material is also chromatographically tested with acidic, basic, and neutral analytes. To achieve good, consistent, and repeatable performance, the findings are held to the highest standards and the smallest specification ranges possible.

Similar to the Symmetry Shield RP18 Sentry Guard Cartridge, you may also be interested in reviewing Symmetry Shield RP18 VanGuard Cartridge, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 3.9 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk; SymmetryShield RP18 VanGuard Cartridges are used to extend analytical column lifetime and performance by removing particulate contamination from the mobile phase stream. This cartridge is optimized to protect all 3.9 mm and 4.6 mm I.D. Symmetry Sheild RP18 analytical columns containing 3.5 µm sorbent particles.

What Are The Symmetry Shield RP8 Sentry Guard Cartridges’ Operating Limitations?

The Symmetry Shield RP8 Sentry Guard Cartridge can resist up to 6000 psi (415 bar) of pressure and operates in a pH range of 2 to 8. It is strongly advised not to run analyses outside of the Sentry Guard Cartridges' constraints, or in close proximity to them for lengthy periods of time, as the lab equipment will wear out and its performance and lifetime will suffer.
