Symmetry Shield RP18 Column, 100Å, 3.5 µm, 3 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk
The embedded polar group technology developed by Waters is used in these reversed-phase columns to "shield" the leftover silanol surface from very basic analytes. Peak form and resolution are considerably enhanced by the SymmetryShield RP18 column's reduced silanol activity.
Based on Waters' unique embedded polar group technology, the Symmetry Shield RP18 Column essentially "shields" the residual surface silanols on silica from extremely basic analytes. The activity of surface silanols is further decreased due to the special column characteristics and the proximity of the embedded polar group to the silica surface, which leads to an improvement in peak form and resolution.
In applications that call for low organic mobile phase conditions, the Symmetry Shield RP18 Column excels when used in very aqueous mobile phases. Due to the implanted polar group's ability to keep the wetted-pore surface in place, the Symmetry Shield RP18 Column is made to prevent any pore dewetting. The equipment's design ensures that your analyte will be retained, negating the need for a drawn-out rewetting and column re-equilibration process.
This laboratory apparatus is designed to provide the industry's smallest ligand surface coverage (ligand density), which results in exceptional reproducibility. You receive greater consistency from batch to batch and column to column because to its superior operational capacity and minimal fluctuations in resolution.
In addition to providing improved performance, the Symmetry Shield RP18 Column is made to last you a long time and save your overall lab equipment cost. It combines the hydrolytic stability of the packing material and the mechanical stability of the packed bed, two important variables that affect the lifetime of the column.

This cartridge has been designed to protect all 2.1 mm and 3.0 mm I.D. Symmetry Shield RP18 analytical columns with 3.5 µm sorbent particles.
What Is The pH Range Recommended For The Symmetry Shield Column?
The Symmetry Shield RP18 Column can easily operate in the pH range of 2 to 8, but working at extreme pressures, pH, and/or temperatures will result in shorter column lifetimes.
