Product Description

ACQUITY BEH Shield RP18 columns complement the ACQUITY BEH C18 and C8 phases and provide a necessary and powerful tool for HPLC method development. The embedded carbamate group in the bonded phase ligand provides alternate selectivity, especially for phenolic compounds compared to straight chain alkyl columns.

ACQUITY UPLC BEH Shield RP18 Column, 130Å, 1.7 µm, 2.1 mm X 100 mm, 3/pk

When you need selectivites to complement ACQUITY UPLC C18 and C8 phases, embedded polar group columns offer these selectivities along with excellent peak shape for bases and aqueous mobile phase compatibility. By combining Waters’ patented Shield Technology with BEH Technology particles, the ACQUITY UPLC BEG Shield RP18 Column incorporates an embedded carbamate group into the bonded phase ligand. The alternate selectivity and excellent peak shape from the embedded polar group ligand combine with a wide pH range and ultra-efficiency from the 1.7 µm BEH particle to provide a powerful tool for UPLC method development.

Embedded polar group (Shield) RP columns contain stationary phases which combine the hydrophobicity of an alkyl ligand with the hydrophilicity of embedded polar groups. This ability is paired with the rugged and efficient stationary phases available in ACQUITY UPLC BEH columns and the extended lifetimes available under UPLC conditions. As a part of developing the sophisticated lab equipment, Waters designed new column hardware to minimize band broadening and ensure connections without leaks. An innovative frit design was also implemented to keep 1.7 µm particles in the column and out of detectors and MS sources. All of this is completed using proprietary column packing stations and processes that ensure stable packed column beds and reproducibility among columns. Lifetimes can be further extended by using an ACQUITY UPLC BEH Shield RP18 VanGuard Pre-column, 130Å, 1.7 µm, 2.1 mm X 5 mm, 3/pk.

All Waters columns are designed to provide consistent results, excellent peak shape, and long column lifetimes. To produce these industry-leading abilities and superior reproducibility between columns and batches, ACQUITY UPLC BEH Shield RP18 columns are manufactured in cGMP, ISO 9002-certified facilities.

Can I Use ACQUITY UPLC BEH Shield RP18 Columns With Other Systems?

All ACQUITY UPLC columns are designed and tested specifically to be used on the ACQUITY UPLC system. Use with the ACQUITY UPLC system will allow for maximum chromatographic performance and benefits from columns only when used on the holistically-designed system, as they are created and designed to operate together. For these reasons, Waters does not support the use of ACQUITY UPLC columns on any system other than the full ACQUITY UPLC system. No results are guaranteed when used outside of the system.
