E&I Cooperative Services is a nonprofit, member-owned organization that helps educational institutions save money and simplify the purchasing process. Founded in 1934, it serves schools, colleges, universities, and other nonprofits by negotiating competitively sourced contracts for a wide range of goods and services. These contracts cover categories like technology, lab equipment, office supplies, facilities, and financial services, all designed to meet legal procurement standards.

What sets E&I apart is its cooperative model. Since it's governed by its members, the organization focuses on delivering value to the institutions it serves, not on making a profit. By pooling the buying power of thousands of members, E&I secures better pricing and terms than most schools could obtain on their own.

E&I also offers value-added services such as procurement consulting, spend analysis, and benchmarking tools. These services help members improve efficiency, reduce risk, and make better purchasing decisions.

E&I's partnerships with Waters allows members to access discounted scientific equipment like LC-MS (liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry) systems, valuable tools for teaching and research labs.

Membership is typically free and open to qualifying nonprofit educational and public institutions. There's no obligation to use a certain number of contracts, giving members flexibility while still benefiting from collective purchasing power.
