This work illustrates how to identify intra- and inter-class differences between black tea samples using the Waters ACQUITY UPLC® System with single quadrupole mass detection and a multivariate approach with chemometrics-based software, Waters MarkerLynx™ XS Application Manager. The power of UPLC® enables rapid analysis times, which allows many samples to be compared in a very short amount of time, while retention times are reproducible from sample to sample. The use of chemometrics provides the analyst with more information than traditional techniques, the automation of this process reduces work as well as the potential for errors.
