A new analytical method is described for the analysis of TCA cycle metabolites as well as other related compounds without sample derivitization or ion-pairing reagents in the mobile phase.

The method uses a simple mobile phase of water, acetonitrile, and 0.1% formic acid to achieve separation of 10 analytes in less than three minutes. The method was used to detect and identify analytes in human urine.
