Maximize sample purity with automated magnetic separation for reliable results

Maximize sample purity with automated magnetic separation for reliable results

The Magnet+ Connected Device is a magnetic separation system designed for laboratories performing bead-based purification of DNA, RNA, proteins, and cells that require reliable results across users and workflows.

The device supports automated workflows with the Andrew+ Pipetting System, works with Pipette+ Stand Electronic Pipette, or can be used manually, all driven by the same OneLab Software protocol for consistent performance.

Under optimized conditions, targets bind to magnetic beads while contaminants remain in solution, producing high-quality samples that help laboratories improve consistency and confidence in purification results.

Magnet+ Connected Device is available in three OneLab Software-ready formats

Magnet+ Connected Device is available in three OneLab Software-ready formats

96-PCR Magnet+ Connected Device
  • For low-volume PCR clean-up and NGS library prep.

Deepwell Magnet+ Connected Device
  • For higher-volume DNA/RNA, protein and cell purification in deepwell plates.

50 mL Tube Magnet+ Connected Device
  • For larger-volume bead-based workflows with an efficient moving magnetic shelf.

Automated magnetic shelf for consistent bead capture

Magnetic bead-based extractions are a common way of separating molecules of interest from matrices. Magnet+ Connected Device uses an automated moving shelf that positions magnets close to the bottom of each well or tube during pelleting phases and moves away from the consumable for resuspension steps. This movement supports reliable bead capture and resuspension across PCR plates, deepwell plates, and tube formats, and the devices have a patent demonstrating that they do not have residual magnetic fields that would negatively impact binding and elution steps.

Scalable purification across labware types and volumes

Three Magnet+ Connected Devices are available, each designed for an optimal maximum volume of beads and sample: the 96 PCR Magnet+ device low-volume PCR clean-up and NGS library prep, the DeepWell Magnet+ Device for higher-volume DNA/RNA, protein and cell purification in deepwell plates, and the 50 mL Tube Magnet+ Device designed for larger-volume bead-based workflows with an efficient moving magnetic shelf.

Simplified workflows with connected software control

Magnet+ Connected Device requires no programming knowledge and is easy to implement using OneLab Software. Device pairing can be done through Wi‑Fi or LAN by following the software prompts. Once paired, OneLab Software automatically suggests the device during execution. In the protocol designer, selecting compatible labware triggers device use, and magnetic field steps are added through the actions menu, which creates a two‑part step for applying and removing the magnetic field. OneLab Software then calculates the best configurations and suggests manual, guided, or automated run options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the key benefits of Magnet+?

  • Consistent Bead Capture — A patented automated moving magnetic shelf positions magnets precisely during pelleting and retracts them during resuspension — ensuring reproducible bead capture across every well and every run. No manual repositioning, no variability between analysts.
  • No Residual Magnetic Field Interference — Patented design eliminates residual magnetic fields during binding and elution steps, preventing interference with bead-target interactions that can reduce yields.
  • Three Formats for Scalable Purification — 96-PCR plates, deepwell plates, and 50 mL tubes — all sharing the same OneLab integration, automated shelf movement, and traceability.
  • Connected Traceability — Magnetic field timing, pelleting duration, and resuspension steps are automatically recorded in the OneLab Software experiment report, supporting GxP compliance workflows.
  • Eliminates Centrifugation and Vacuum Bottlenecks — Magnetic bead separation replaces centrifugation and vacuum filtration steps, removing common bottlenecks and enabling fully walkaway purification workflows.
  • No Programming Required — Device pairing via Wi-Fi or LAN follows OneLab prompts. Selecting compatible labware automatically triggers Magnet+ use — OneLab calculates optimal configurations and suggests execution options.

Which Magnet+ format should I choose?

  • 96-PCR Magnet+ — Optimized for skirted 96-PCR plates. Best for low-volume PCR clean-up and NGS library prep.
  • Deepwell Magnet+ — Optimized for 96-well deepwell plates. Best for higher-volume DNA/RNA, protein, and cell purification.
  • 50 mL Tube Magnet+ — Optimized for 50 mL conical centrifuge tubes. Best for larger-volume bead-based workflows with an efficient moving magnetic shelf.

All three formats share the same OneLab integration, automated shelf movement, and traceability capabilities.

Which lab scenarios are ideal for Magnet+?

  • Compliance-driven purification workflows — Replace untracked manual magnetic stands with a connected device that logs every separation action automatically. OneLab Software provides the digital record QA teams and auditors require — pelleting duration, magnetic field timing, and resuspension steps captured without manual documentation.
  • High-throughput bead-based purification — Workflows like nucleic acid extraction, antibody purification, and NGS library clean-up benefit from consistent, automated bead pelleting across all 96 wells — eliminating the variability of manual magnetic stand positioning.
  • Manual-to-automation transition — Magnet+ uses the same OneLab Software protocol whether you run manually, with Pipette+, or fully automated on Andrew+. Validate your purification method at the bench today, then transfer it to an automated Andrew+ workflow tomorrow — same device, same protocol, no re-validation.
