With the addition of Environmental Resource Associates (ERA) to the Waters family, Waters is now able to provide QC standards, quality control standards, and Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) to customers involved with environmental testing. Designed to meet your laboratory’s quality needs and regulatory requirements, these products are available for the entire range of environmental matrices, including drinking water, wastewater, air, soil, sediment, and sludge.
The rapid and accurate analysis of drinking water is essential in protecting human health and well being. The importance of clean, safe drinking water has been magnified in recent years with the increased potential for accidental or intentional contamination. As critical components to our Drinking Water Testing Solutions, Waters offers standards which include disinfection by-products, explosives, herbicides, pesticides, solids, nutrients, physical properties, chemical properties, metals, volatiles, semi-volatiles, and microbiology.
Wastewater (comprised of waste from domestic sources, commercial properties, industry, and agriculture) can contain a wide range of potential contaminants. The analysis of these types of samples is often quite challenging due to the variability of both the chemicals compounds which may be present as well as the overall composition of the wastewater itself. As part of our robust and accurate solutions for the wastewater testing laboratory, Waters is able to provide standards which include calibration standards, COD, BOD, TOX, TOC, surfactants, demand, chemical properties, physical properties, herbicides, nutrients, oil & grease, PCBs, pesticides, pH, semi-volatiles, metals, TPH, volatiles, and Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET).
The introduction of chemicals and particulates into the atmosphere via human activities, such as industrial manufacturing and automobile driving, are major source of air pollution. Waters offers innovative products to address the need for close monitoring of these pollutants including standards for particulate matter, metals, volatiles, semi-volatiles, nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen halides, halogens, PCBs, PAHs, and aldehydes & keytones.
Soil contamination occurs when a hazardous substance is introduced into naturally occurring soils. Often physically or chemically attached to soil particles, these compounds can require extensive sample preparation or extraction prior to instrumentation analysis. With its innovative portfolio of sample preparation technologies Waters provides comprehensive solutions to environmental testing challenges. As an intricate part of our solutions, we offer soil standards including hydrocarbons, metals, nutrients, PCBs, TPH, volatiles, semi-volatiles, perchlorate, pesticides, and physical properties.
Sludge is composed of any residual semi-solid material remaining after an industrial or wastewater treatment process. Often toxic or contaminated as a result of the treatment of wastewater, biosolids are subjected to governmental regulations and require testing prior to use or disposal. For laboratories conducting this type of testing, Waters offers standards which include nutrients, metals, and perchlorate.
Waste with properties that make it harmful to human health or the environment is termed hazardous waste. Regulated in the United States under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), these materials or compounds can be found in waters, soils, or sludge. Waters recognizes the importance of identifying, remediating, and monitoring these chemicals and among our portfolio of standards are products used specifically for hazardous waste analysis, such as Poly Chlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) in oil.
